Which classification plaque does your establishment need?

Decreto 50/2011 of 8 April (BOC 2011/081) regulates the plaques that identify tourist establishments in the Canary Islands. It requires the plaque to be fixed next to the main entrance, somewhere visible from outside, with a uniform design for each category: 30×30 cm, bearing the code and pictogram set out in the annex to the decree. The design cannot be personalised with the name of the establishment or the business logo: each plaque reproduces exactly the official model for its type and category, so that any visitor or inspector can recognise it at a glance.

The annex to the decree covers three broad groups of tourist activity: regulated accommodation (hotels, urban hotels, rural hotels, tourist apartments, villas, rural and emblematic houses, and holiday rentals), food and drink (restaurants, bars and cafés, and guachinches serving their own wine) and tourism intermediation (travel agencies and intermediaries). In total it defines 27 models, from CN01 to CN27, one for each type and category. Tourist establishments in the Canary Islands are subject to inspection by the regional authorities, who may check that the correct plaque is displayed on the façade.

The table below lists the 25 models we currently make, with a direct link to each product page. Find your type of establishment and its category (number of stars, or the specific designation for houses, holiday rentals or guachinches) to identify the CN code you need.

You will not find CN09 or CN15 in our catalogue: they are codes in the annex to the decree for categories we do not currently make. If your establishment falls under one of those codes, get in touch via our contact page and we will look into it.

Material and fixing

All plaques are made from 30×30 cm aluminium composite: two aluminium sheets with a polyethylene core, a rigid, lightweight material that withstands outdoor exposure (sun, rain and salt air) and is designed to stay on a façade for years without fading or warping. The engraved code and pictogram remain sharp and legible from a distance.

The plaque can be fixed with screws, if the surface allows, or with heavy-duty mounting adhesive on a wall, glass or metal. The required position is next to the main entrance of the establishment, at a point visible from outside, at a height and in a place where anyone arriving on foot or by car can identify the category without having to enter the building.

The process is simple: choose the CN model in the table above that matches your type of establishment and its category, and add it to your basket from the product page. Payment is made by card at checkout; there is no need to send us any file or specify any personalisation, because the design of each plaque is already fixed by the decree.

Once your order is confirmed, the plaque is made to order in Gran Canaria. We deliver to all the Canary Islands. As it is a made-to-order product, it cannot be returned except in the case of a manufacturing defect, which we replace free of charge.
